When thinking about everything, we can say that we get indulged in life in a way that we often forget ourselves, we can pass a whole day living by the habit not by the action and life takes us into it's own paved path, but are we interfering in the process or just moving along?!
Walking around in the streets I found myself annoyed by the noise of cars, the humming of people and the waft of air that loosens my hair. I remained silent and continued on walking, a full day spent without saying a single word to anyone, just wanted to enjoy the silence.
Walking around studying people and places I saw a tree that as old as an era and holding lots of memories on its branches while remaining forever sturdy. I saw children laughing, people fighting and nothing really caught my attention to the details of life around me.
Frankly speaking, being quiet has its perks and is not at all a great thing but there is this inner solitude and an
incredible amount of thinking going on that cannot necessarily be
verbalized into words. It's like when no one is around me, I have this freedom that I can do
and say as I please without the judging eyes of the crowd or comments of certain friends. I can watch a heart-stopping movie or cuddle up
with a book, I can be carefree and lazy and feel all this vibrant energy
approaching me progressively and I can be myself without explaining and answering annoying questions. I found out that I don’t have to
deal with people and their constant bickering or hear the commotion
in the hallways of college. But yet, I feel stronger. Silence has given
me an emotional strength that no other human can give to me, it has taught me that no matter what happens I can raise my head high and walk like nothing matters, The source of my strength came from my ability to concentrate, listen, observe and learn within being silent and free.
On the other hand, being silent for the past few days taught me the importance and power of the word. Words are a miraculous medium. They can bring those mountains of
thoughts from inside our heads to outside. Words can break hearts; words
can shape lives. Words have the power to topple kings and governments.
Only one word can bring two people together, and one word can separate nations, words has the power to do wonders and silence has the ability to turn vulnerability into strength and wisdom.
"She had lost the art of conversation, but not, unfortunately the power of speech"
That's how I can relate and connect silence with words, you can be forever silent but whenever you speak a word you have the power of speech, the power to change the world and the power to be who you are without being scared to show it to the whole world.
Well speaking about both silence and words and after giving it a thought I wanted to combine both in one miraculous word and indeed I found it, silence and words can be found in the beauty and calmness of "Reading".
Reading is a world full of words that turns into adventures, it's where the author speaks to you and only you, and it's where the book becomes your moment of silence and life at the same time.
In reading we find ourselves living a million other eras and billion lives, we can travel through time while we are just sitting on the chair holding a book and we can express feelings or emotions even when we are silent.
"I do not read for I have renounced life, I read because one life is just not enough for me" - Abbas Al Akkad
So silence can be strength and words can be power, but reading is both strength and power combined, as a healthy mind is nothing without a great amount of knowledge and craziness altogether.
